The Global Campus of Human Rights provides the opportunity to GC Alumni, selected among the Regional Programmes to spend up to 6 months in one UN institution/agency, other international organisations or NGO, and gain a unique working and networking experience under the responsibility of the GC.
The organisations where GC students in 2014-2015 undertook internships were the Regional Offices of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Brussels and in Chile, the Council of Europe, the African Court and Settlement Council Australia, an NGO working on Refugees. The support provided by the GC interns was considered as a real asset for the different organisations; the students also strengthened their knowledge of International and national HR mechanisms.
"The internship placement provided by the Global Campus was the opportunity to work in a multi-cultural environment and gain comprehensive knowledge regarding the structure and activities of the Council of Europe and its bodies, attend conferences held within the Organisation, sittings of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and hearings of the European Court of Human Rights. Every day, every new assignment, every conversation with supervisors, colleagues or other trainees is a learning process. (...)This experience made me even surer that I would like to pursue a career in the protection of human rights and helped me to revise my academic and professional goals."
