The activities organised by EIUC / Global Campus result from the joint efforts of 100 prestigious universities, all renowned worldwide for their leading role in education, research and advocacy in human rights and democratisation. Their experience in working together on curriculum development, teaching methodology, student selection and evaluation, and even the awarding of degrees, marks a unique example of global inter-university cooperation.

EIUC was founded in 2002 as interdisciplinary centre formed by a group of renowned universities form all European Union members states, which composition has reached as of 2017, 38 members.

Through development of the Global Campus of Human Rights, EIUC has further become the hub of a larger network, thus becoming the point of reference for a network of 100 universities worldwide – a constellation of institutions and relevant partners which makes of the joint EIUC / Global Campus endeavor a unique institution:
